The Senior Tax Specialist is responsible for assisting in complex tax compliance activities as they relate to tax reporting and regulatory requirements. This position is client facing and will be required to communicate with clients and governmental agencies. This position is also responsible for resolving tax notices, responding to tax inquiries, reconciling accounts, processing tax returns and amendments, providing back up support for submitting payments.


  • Ensure compliance with client tax accounts.
  • Communicate complex payroll tax issues orally and in written form with team, clients, and government agencies as required.
  • Provide guidance to team members and clients on tax issues.
  • Triage Tax team emails and cases and manage internal/external cases meeting or exceeding service level agreements (SLA's).
  • Participate in the monthly, quarterly and yearly processing of tax returns, which includes reconciling tax amounts, and filing returns through various methods. Continuously review filing and payment methods every quarter and work to make the process more efficient.
  • Process amended tax returns.
  • Timely reconciliation of tax bank account.
  • Process Daily Payroll Tax Imports.
  • Process tax payments.
  • Audit data by cross-referencing information across multiple systems.
  • Prepare and provide internal training, as necessary.
  • Maintain a library of updated tax information for tax team members.
  • Provide support for escalated client situations.
  • Support the set up general ledger reporting for clients in iSolved when needed.
  • Be proactive with continued development and training.
  • Other projects and responsibilities as assigned.


  • 3 + years of experience with payroll taxes.
  • CPP preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Extremely organized and detail oriented.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Consistent and sustained quality in data entry and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to a fast paced, constantly evolving business and work environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent analytical and research skills.
  • Experience in auditing
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite with special emphasis on Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros, nested IF statements).
